Refractions of a Mirror

Black & Blue Swirl Background

As one year comes to an end and we prepare to begin a new year, many reflect back on the year and all that it held. This got me to thinking, do we reflect or are we merely seeing what is still there? Life is not easy and some find it more challenging than others. What defines us and who we are are the moments where we have a crossroad that we must decide which path we will travel down. Each of us carries a light inside us whether it is our soul or our life force energy. This light is refracted off of each of those moments, those mirrors. If we look at each of these mirrors, who we are is demonstrated in how we handle ourselves. Sometimes we find that the refraction is not one that we like or are proud of and we aspire to make ourselves better by repairing the flaw we find. Sometimes we see these refractions and deflect those flaws onto others because we are not ready to accept and see what is right there inside us.

So, what can we do to make those refractions less flawed and closer to the refraction we hope to see? It is a long and unending road of self healing, work, and growth that we seek to achieve this. Why is it unending? If we hope to be the refraction we want to see then this will require continuous learning and work on our part through out the course of our lives. Sure, it can be easier to stop at times and stay stagnate however we remain never moving forward and never moving backwards . Is this what you want for this life? In my younger years I did take the easier option and remained stagnate however that did not bring me inner peace. As I grew older I found that growth and change brought me closer to achieving the refractions I hoped to aspire to. I have accepted that this work is unending and is a path I will travel for the rest of my life.

So what has this past years’ refractions taught me? Inner peace can be shattered by those who you trust and love the most but real growth and change occurs when you can forgive. You can be shattered into a million pieces by someone else’s decisions yet you can then truly see what real strength you have inside. To have true happiness and inner peace you must be true to who you really are and stop worrying about what society expects. That all of us are not “normal” as society expects but different, unique, and strange and that is a good thing because it shows our individuality. Your personal pain can be controlled because pain is just our reaction to a moment as it is presented to us. If you learn to control your pain then you are taking your power back away for the source and putting yourself back in control. This year I have grown so much because I have experienced so many moments of highs but some of the worst lows of my lifetime. In all honesty, I thought the lows would truly break me but I learned how strong I really am.

Light refracts off of mirrors even in the greatest darkness. If we are the light and the moments are mirrors then what we are seeing in that refraction is what is truly inside us but maybe we have been unable to see it until that moment presents its self to show us what we are really made of. 2021 has overall been a good year. I began the year with a home, a job, friends, and family that are healthy and I am ending the year with the same. May your New Year be full of light and hope for inner peace and further growth.
